The American Apparel & Footwear Association is the national trade association representing apparel, footwear and other sewn products companies and their suppliers, which compete in the global market.

AAFA’s mission is to promote and enhance its members’ competitiveness, productivity and profitability in the global market by minimizing regulatory, legal, commercial, political and trade restraints.

AAFA seeks to achieve this mission by:

Representing the points of view and pursuing the concerns of AAFA members before the public and all branches of government to advance the association’s legislative, international trade and regulatory objectives.
Ensuring that individuals employed in the sewn products industries are afforded opportunities and are treated with fairness and respect.
Communicating information to promote the apparel, footwear and other sewn products industries worldwide.
Creating a favorable environment for the advancement and exchange of best practices and technological innovations.

The heart of the American Apparel & Footwear Association’s program is a structure for active membership involvement. It is comprised of 17 committees and divisions with nearly 1,000 industry leaders representing apparel, footwear and other sewn products companies and their suppliers. AAFA committees represent every facet of the industry - topics ranging from supply chain management to e-commerce, government relations, sales and marketing, human resources, finance, international sourcing, social responsibility, government contracts and more. AAFA divisions focus on products such as footwear, children's wear, swimwear and intimate apparel.

AAFA members produce their products here in the U.S. as well as around the world.

AAFA speaks on behalf of the U.S. apparel and footwear industries before Congress and a variety of federal and state agencies on issues ranging from trade policy to safety regulations. The AAFA also provides its members with an array of services. These range from efforts to spur progress in communications technology to overseeing charitable giving by manufacturers and helping to educate the industry's leaders of tomorrow.
