Premier Viusion Pluriel - The Boldness of a Leading Offer
What price success? Daring. The six Première Vision Pluriel events, which just held their autumn winter
2009-10 session at Paris-Nord Villepinte (23 to 26 September), have proven this true once again. In spite
of an exceptionally difficult worldwide economic climate, the different shows took place in a very positive
atmosphere of discoveries.
Exhibitors demonstrated surprising boldness in these uncertain times, boldness that led them to continue
to bet on creativity and quality. Buyers - and the percentage of international buyers remains unrivalled -
applauded their original and renewed propositions.
Four days of fruitful exchange and discussion, of business, of energy, all confirming Première Vision Pluriel
as the essential meeting point for all international professionals working in fashion textiles.
LE CUIR A PARIS SEPTEMBRE 2008: A GOOD WORKING MOOD
349 exhibitors from 24 countries have participated in the 15th edition of LE CUIR A PARIS held last 23-26
September at Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Park.
Albeit a complex international economic situation and some public transport problems on the opening day,
the buyers were present. 12 773 visits were registered, a slight fall in comparison to September 2007.
To be noted, a progression in the visitors’ numbers coming from Italy (+ 11%), Portugal (+ 31%), Russia (+27 %) and Scandinavian countries such as Sweden (+ 13 %). The proportion of international visitors
remains at 65 %.
Overall, the exhibitors are pleased with the quality of contacts made during the 4 days of the fair.
« The Spanish exhibitors have worked well and are pleased with this edition. It is true that things were
rather calm in day one but from the second day of the fair they had continuous and regular work.», affirms
Ms Vanessa Villarejo from Acexpiel (Spanish Association for the Leather Industry).
On the other hand, the French exhibitors « thought that they would face a bad start given the economic
context and the public transport strike but they worked well from the first day of the fair. They are, in
general, very pleased with this edition and those who, traditionally, only participated in the September
edition wish to exhibit next February », confirms Ms Sophie Hivert, General Representative of FFTM
(French Federation of Tanners).
Ms Neslihan Argiç from Yesiller (Turkey), a tannery that exhibits in LE CUIR A PARIS since September
2004, reckons that this was their best edition so far. « Most particularly, we have met very important new
clients from countries such as UAE and Saudi Arabia ». Mr Ahmet Kuyulu from Marmara Deri, one of the
biggest tanneries in Turkey, is also very pleased with the results obtained and has already confirmed his
presence in both 2009 editions.
LE CUIR A PARIS has not disappointed the first-time exhibitors.
« We are delighted with this first participation. The buyers were regularly present in our stand and we will
come back next February with a fur collection exclusively developed for LE CUIR A PARIS », states Nicola
Valsamakis from N.V.T Invent (Italy).
Mr Ivan Belloni from C.I. Zobem (Colombia) also shares this feeling: « We make a very specific product,
the Colombian alligator, which is very soft and has an exceptional quality. I have a good impression of this
fair and I have established contacts with new clients from luxury leather goods and shoes».
The success of this edition is also confirmed by exhibitors such as JSC Vilniaus Kailiai (Lithuania) which
showcased leather and fur garments. Ms Neila Sveikauskaité, marketing director explains: « This event is
very important to us because we find here both our raw material suppliers and the manufacturers who
need our services for producing leather garments. At LE CUIR A PARIS, we meet buyers that we do not
get to see in other events where we also participate. Further, we appreciate to find out what’s happening in
the upstream of fashion so as to improve our products; LE CUIR A PARIS guides us in the forthcoming
trends ».
The opening of LE CUIR A PARIS to the furnishing sector has not gone unnoticed. The HOME
INSPIRATION area offered a creative concept of the material
possibilities for the sector. The Intérieurs Cuir exhibition (set up by the CTC, B2S, FFTM and 12 French tanners) also attracted a good number of visitors
and its presence in LE CUIR A PARIS was unanimously appreciated by exhibitors and visitors alike.
Ms Zila Cicolella from Zenith (Brazil), a company that participated for the first time in the fair with material
effects mixing textiles, straw and wool, confirms the favourable mood for the sector: « We didn’t fix any
objectives before coming to LE CUIR A PARIS and we are nicely surprised with the quality of contacts
made, particularly, in what concerns the interior decoration sector. We will come back next year with a
more important leather supply ».
Regarding the materials on offer, the richness of the products exhibited and the new material effects were
not missed out.
Béatrice ROUSSEAU, General Manager of the fair, states: « All the exhibitors whose material offer
perfectly corresponded to the positioning of the fair (in what regards creativity, innovation, and originality)
have obtained very positive results from their participation. The visitors interviewed were also pleased with
the supplies on show that are increasingly vast and interesting ».
The versatility and nobleness of leather attract a wide variety of visitors, from fashion accessories to
interior decoration.
« This fair has an important materials’ offer. The proximity with PREMIERE VISION is very good to
produce our collections », explains Ms Monica Mei, Women’s Shoe Style Manager for Fratelli
Rossetti.
« A great selection of materials for home deco », outlines Mr Marc Novella, architect.
Marriages that oppose very mat and varnish leathers, leather effects inspired from the universe of textiles
and vice-versa, wet and rocky effects, soft touches contrasted with paper-like touches, “suit” patterns
inspirations, new folds, volumes and ideas issued form the 1930s such as “Klint” colours, will mark the
2009-10 autumn/winter season. To be noted, the discreet come back of the ostrich.
