Success of Inaugural ACLE, CIFF and Moda Shanghai 'Three-in-one' Exhibition Format

The inaugural three-in-one exhibition format comprising the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE), the China International Footwear Fair (CIFF) and Moda Shanghai, held in Shanghai from 3 - 5 September 2003, was deemed a great success. The scale of exhibition was much bigger with 19% more exhibiting companies than last year. Visitor numbers were up by 33% over last year to over 12,400 visitors from 56 countries and regions. Exhibitors were very pleased with business prospects.

ACLE provides a marketplace where all supplies for the China Footwear and leather-making sectors can be sourced from Asian and international suppliers. CIFF and Moda Shanghai offer fashion buyers a wide choice of finished goods, including footwear, handbags, fashion accessories, leather garments and travel goods.

In the vibrant business atmosphere of these three events, Chinese and other Asian buyers were busy sourcing all supplies from hides and skins through leathers to finished products.

A new leather sector, planned for inclusion in future editions of ACLE, is upholstery for automotives, the home and office. This is a major growth sector and while upholstery leather remains a significant and specialized product available from Europe, South America, North America and South Africa, its production is rapidly spreading throughout Asia, principally China. Acle could act as an important market place in bringing together suppliers and buyers from both East and West and helping to develop this business further.

Buyer's Choice Award

For the first time at CIFF and Moda Shanghai, a Buyers' Choice Award was held allowing buyers to vote for exhibits which impressed them most. The objective of the programme was to give exhibitors an additional insight into how their products are perceived in the China market. According to the buyers' survey, the exhibits were those which were highly rated in terms of the colours, designs, materials, prices and sizes. The results were:
